dc.description | Hamilton Commons was constructed in 1966-1968 and was named in honor of Roy W. Hamilton, sixth (6th) president of the College (1943-1946). Roy W. Hamilton was the composer of the alma mater. Mr. Hamilton came to Alma College as a professor of English in 1919 after serving in the Army during World War 1, and before the war Hamilton was a pastor. After Hamilton left the presidency he taught English at Alma until his death in 1952. | |
