dc.description The Smith Alumni house was renovated in 1999. The Smith Alumni House is across from the Dunning Memorial Chapel at the corner of Philadelphia and Superior streets. Coach Arthur L. Smith '38 and Carra Jones Smith '42 provided the naming gift for the renovation. The Board of Trustees purchased the property from Dr. August Bruske, Alma's second President, in 1917. The house was formally known as the Kirk International house from 1982 to 1999, and was named after Dr. Florence A. Kirk, professor of English from 1954 to 1967.
