Taking 29 trains in 21 days, Dr. Lorenz's class traveled through Europe meeting members of the Polish trade union Solidarity, sitting in on a trial of an accused war criminal, and visiting a tiny French village that sheltered thousands of refugees fleeing the Nazis.
