Description:
Charles Skinner, as a student, led a successful 1938 campaign for resumption of baseball competition at Alma after a decade of inactivity during the Great Depression. Baseball was dropped again during World War II, and when it resumed in 1947 he was coach of the team. His four successive championships (1954-57) make him the only MIAA coach to achieve that mark. Also a chemistry professor at Alma College from 1945 to 1978, he was selected by the graduating classes of 1972, 1974, 1976, and 1978 as the Distinguished Professor in the Natural Science Division.
